Frequently Asked Questions

What type of powder works best for the footprints?

Plain baking flour, cornflour, bi carb soda, or icing sugar work wonderfully on hard floors, rugs, and doormats. For carpeted areas, a gentle sprinkle of bi carb soda or baby powder vacuums up effortlessly on Boxing Day.

Can the stencils be cleaned if they get damp?

If any powder becomes slightly damp, wipe the timber clean immediately with a dry microfibre cloth and allow it to dry completely in the open air. Do not submerge the plywood in water or use liquid chemical cleaners, as moisture can warp natural timber.

How do I achieve clean, sharp footprint edges?

Hold the stencil completely flat against the floor using one hand, and lightly shake your powder through a small kitchen flour sifter or tea strainer held directly above the cut outs. Lift the timber stencil straight upward without sliding it to keep the edges sharp and clear.
