Hi, I’m Karl, the heart behind Make It Personal Gift Co. I'm a proud dad to four amazing kids who have been with us for over five years. We first welcomed them into our home through foster care, and now they’re officially part of our forever family. Their ages range from 16 down to almost 2, and life is full, loud, and beautiful.
Being a father is what drives me. My 12-year-old has some unique challenges, which means our weeks are filled with therapy sessions including speech, occupational therapy, behavioural support and counselling. I’ve always been a hands-on dad and starting this business gave me the flexibility to be there for my family while building something I’m passionate about.
We’re based in the coastal town of North Avoca on the Central Coast of New South Wales where every piece is created with love, care, and a personal touch.
When I became a stay at home dad I needed something that was mine — something creative, flexible and meaningful. That’s when Make It Personal Gift Co was born. It started as a small idea, just me in a corner of the house, personalising gifts between naptimes and appointments. Now it has grown into a thriving little business that allows me to connect with people across Australia through handmade, heartfelt pieces.
This isn't just a business. It's a way for me to spread a bit of joy and love while honouring the values of family, connection and thoughtfulness that mean the world to me.
In 2024 I was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome which has left me with facial paralysis on the left side of my face. It’s something I live with daily and why you won’t often see me on screen. But rest assured I’m always behind the scenes designing, making, packing and posting everything with care.
Running this business has given me more than just an income. It has given me purpose. It has helped me stay creative, resilient and hopeful, all while being fully present for my kids.
